My final major project ‘God Save The Queens’ mixes royalty with Drag queens. I lived in London for an internship at Hand & Lock. Here I worked with other interns to restore a King Edward VII Garter Banner which peaked my interest for the ostentatiousness of the Royals. I focused on the over the top silhouettes, and heavily adorned garments of the Tudors. I also lived with a Drag Queen, which exposed me to the creative process behind drag and the confidence that comes with this self-expression. My concept brings these two ideas together mixing the Royal Queen with the modern day Drag Queen, a modern and camp take on a traditional idea- to create a quirky and feminine collection.
