Ye jin Cho
Ye jin Cho combines traditional and modern elements in her jewellery. Ye jin's artwork was inspired by traditional Korean mother-of-pearl lacquerware, Najunchilgi, and the four components that appeared in it, plum, orchid, chrysanthemum, and bamboo, which is called the four gracious plants, and she produced brooches based on her own line drawing. Also, the inlaid method was used, and a brooch was created using mother of pearl, the main element of lacquerware. As a modern element, mother of pearl pieces were sliced into small and identical pixels and set in an inlay, which gave an image to the design as if a part of the overall curving picture were pixelated, giving it the appearance of a blend of traditional and modern qualities. One brooch was created with metal, wood, and resin. Four brooch pieces were developed distinctively and handcrafted by Ye jin.
