Currently, I am a final year Fashion Knitwear Design and Knitted Textiles student. After working full time and deciding to re-join education, I have been able to develop skills in designing fashion and textiles. From focusing on woven fabrics in level 3 to now knitwear at degree level, I’m always taking opportunities to try something new. Studying knitwear has given me the chance to learn new garment construction techniques. During my final year I was fortunate enough to be awarded a sponsorship from Novetex Textiles ltd. Using their yarns, I was able to focus on the quality of my designs for my concept: South-West Solace. This project focuses on my home, a place I always want to return to and my feelings towards home sickness. Taking my work from design, to knitting the fabrics to be used in my own garment creations suits me best as a designer and I have been able to develop all aspects of creation during these three years.
