Volume up, volume down is a woven collection focusing on acoustic and fabrics for interiors. The collection explores the waffle weave structure alongside more conventional interiors fabrics. Exploring the waffle structure has been the focus of my MA work, playing with scale, colour, and material qualities and how these can change the idea of what the waffle is. I am particularly passionate about texture and pattern and how these affect our environments through the textiles we bring them into. Visual references are drawn from my personal experience with water and the exploration I’ve taken to translate that through drawing and mark making. Creative possibilities have been explored across the use of hand woven and jacquard cloth, using predominantly lambs wool and organic cotton, due to the added benefits of these fibres in interior spaces.
