7.87 explores the changing states of air pollution, ocean plastics, chemical waste, and climate change through a conceptual collection of public art installations. The work highlights the environmental damage caused by humans, urging viewers to take action in restoring the planet. The project uses the fundamentals of textile design to explore problems in which the textiles industry is heavily implicated. With a multi-media approach, I want to push the boundaries of what it means to be a textile designer through the use of projection and film. The final designs incorporate sound to create an immersive experience for audience. The effects of climate change have inspired me to explore transformations of matter through melting, burning and chemical reactions. I care deeply about sustainability and am fascinated by material transformation which I have explored through CAD and photography in this collection.
