Inspired by the interface of nature and the built environment; this collection explores our interaction with the cities in which we dwell. The designs reflect the combination of historic and traditional and the contrast with modern materials and finishes. The concept embraces the impact of people and nature on our urban communities and the beauty and inspiration that is found when we take the time to look more closely. It is influenced by the shape and form of the cityscape and how this is personalized with sculpture and graffiti. The collection reflects the way people enhance their urban experience with plants but also how nature finds its own way to take root in the most unlikely places. I have combined print, embroidery and fabric manipulation creating a collection for a ‘high end’ streetwear collection suitable for the demands of life in the urban jungle. After graduation, I aim to explore different aspects of the textile industry and continue to develop a range of skills.
