Holly Williams-Thomas
A lifelong passion for history and art fuels my natural curiosity for the cultural meanings behind objects and clothing. During my time at NTU, I have pushed myself to shape these meanings myself, combining varied influences to create compelling design concepts. In today’s world of hyper-consumption in which fashion has almost become disposable, I want to create work with rich layers of meaning that connects with the consumer. I’m passionate about sustainability and exploring alternative fashion systems. My final year collection explores the creative challenges and opportunities that come with using deadstock, remnant, and used fabrics, whilst my dissertation gave me the opportunity to research circular fashion systems and the changing role of sustainable fashion in the current market. I aim to be a contributor to a more sustainable future for the fashion industry, whilst simultaneously creating exciting work that echoes the current zeitgeist of uniqueness, creativity, and divergence.
