I am bringing what many might consider the mundane (even ugly) to the forefront in my work. I am drawn to buildings that feel like shadows of what once was, fading like the structures themselves. I find the neglected and sometimes decaying buildings of the urban landscape incredibly poignant: houses were once homes, shops were once the embodiment of someone's ambition, their aspirations and dreams for a future which has long since passed.
The lack of human presence allows the viewer to inhabit the space: the intricate detail encouraging them to linger and study often overlooked structures and places they might not come across themselves, and probably wouldn’t even notice if they did.
