Emma Ballantine is a woven textile designer who has a strong interest in the relationship between design responsibility and heritage textile processes. Narrative Landscapes pays homage to the unique scenery of the New Forest National Park through a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of wool, a fibre which has a deeply interwoven relationship to the natural landscapes of Britain. Taking the form of functional and diverse hand-woven home and fashion accessories, Narrative Landscapes utilises highly considered colour placement and use of woven structures to allow for a sensitive response to this nuanced environment of heathland, woodland and coast. Through continued exploration of our textile design history, a more sustainable future can be curated. As a result of a deep passion for the benefits of natural fibres and traditional practices, she is committed to developing this further through work in woven textile production and personal design briefs.
