I originally started on Textile Design but transferred courses onto Fashion, Knitwear & Design because I became obsessed about knit and the material qualities that can be created from the discipline. For my final collection I wanted to focus on the patterns and colours that can be used within knit in extreme ways. My final project is called Brutalist Beauty and focuses on the patterns created in buildings such as the Barbican. I focused on the reflection of windows to add colour into this collection as i wanted to make it playful and bright to really contrast the idea of brutalist architecture as the original buildings are plain and dull. I wanted to show that we can create a playful but serious environment around us and colour can be used to create this. I won the Fashanne commercial design award with this project by highlighting waste produced in garment manufacturing through the packaging of my garments and creating swing tags to help tackle the issues we face as a society.
