Daisy Whiteman-Ley
Specialising in handmade ceramics, Daisy’s work is inspired by children’s book illustration. Driven by the want to express her drawings through clay, she combines elements of sgraffito, a traditional pottery decoration technique, with a love for drawings and illustration. Her work plays with narrative explored through form and surface decoration to communicate a sense loneliness and comfort within the story it tells. This is reiterated through the warmth of the terracotta and blissful, nostalgic colour pallet of underglazes. Creating pieces that are both functional and beautifully tactile, she encourages a sense of naïve, childlike wonder within everyday life.
