Covid 19 lockdowns had an effect on fashion, Sloom is an exploration of this. It is a gender neutral collection concentrating on pyjama and loungewear staples. Focusing on coordinating items, it aims to be suitable for both indoor and outdoor styling. In response to the restrictions, Sloom aims to bring elements of the outdoors into the home. A component within my project revolves around the term “dopamine dressing". The premise of the concept is wearing bright colours that boost the self. As many suffered with low mood and poor mental health, my aim was to create a collection that was positive, using bright colours to mirror this. Everyone went through the difficulty of the pandemic so creating a genderless brand for everyone to enjoy was essential. I was a winner of the Next Menswear life brief and was acknowledged within the Joules live project. I aspire to extend my knowledge even more within the textiles industry, by gaining a career surrounding fashion based fabrics.
