Constance Tugman
I am a multi-media artist from London who explores themes of consciousness, connections and the self. I often use the human form as a canvas to provoke empathy in the viewer. My figurative sculptures aim to bring a representation of one's inside world to the outside. To incarnate hypotheses regarding the human psyche, and delve into her own conscious and unconscious mind, to reflect upon her own human experience. I like to use archetypal imagery and symbols throughout her work to weave a collective narrative into work that is inherently intimate and personal. My work is often interactive and tactile in nature. I achieve this by manipulating materials, to look and act in an unconventional way. I frequently incorporate fabric in my work as I have a keen interest in fashion and garment construction, and I plan to do a seamstress apprenticeship in the coming year.
