I am enthusiastic about fashion and have thoroughly enjoyed developing skills in CAD, pattern cutting and manufacturing throughout my time at University. For my FMP, I have explored reconstructive surgery. I have looked at the themes of identity, reconstruction, and transformation, incorporating tailoring and fabric manipulation into my collection. Tailoring is a challenging specialism regarding pattern cutting and manufacture. It requires precision and attention to detail; I have found it very rewarding learning about this practice. My USP for my FMP collection is attention to detail. Last summer, I undertook an internship with the luxury scarf company, Jane Carr. Over six weeks: I assisted with stock allocation, collaborated to create social media content, conducted market research, assisted with the styling of the scarves, produced fashion illustrations as well as created a showroom for buyers. This was an excellent insight into how fashion businesses operate.
