Miami Heat is a collection designed to provide a new direction to menswear tailoring. After my placement year at Jo-Y-Jo I have gained confidence in designing classic menswear pieces, forming the underlying nature of my final year work. My approach to design now is frequently centred around my enthusiasm for colour and expressive mark making, translating the two into high quality knitwear garments. Throughout my work sustainable considerations have been made, through both construction methods as well as the use of responsibly sourced yarns which include biodegradable natural fibres. Showcasing my final year collection at the Graduate Fashion Week Showroom was an extremely rewarding opportunity. As well as having the chance to display my final outcomes, a selection of initial knitted swatches were also published in Textile View Magazine, a publication which has been inspirational throughout my degree.
