Combining the ornate artworks of the Dutch golden age and heritage design with contemporary abstract art, my work infuses the old with the new creating a timeless interior collection that captures the beauty and the serenity of the natural environment. My collection aims to act as a sustainable alternative to the cut flower industry, bringing floristry into the home through interior textiles that is long-lasting and does not cost the planet. The cut flower industry has a devastating environmental impact. Fossil fuel emissions produced through refrigerated transportation, along with the use of pesticides and high-water consumption is resulting in land degradation and pollution. It is a huge price for the earth to pay for a decoration that is temporary. My focus is to raise awareness of these issues whilst offering a sustainable, long lasting alternative for bring floristry into homes.
