I investigated Grace Jones’s different characters thoughout her life. I admire her androgynous style and bold features, as well as how she pushed the boundaries of performance, wore men’s clothing, tore it apart to entice sexuality which particularly inspired me. By reading her book, watching documentaries and interviews have also given me viable information which I have used to further my knowledge on the topic. My concept explores gender boundaries and self-expression, my collection comes from the journey of Grace Jones and how I can modernise the style for 21st-century women (Men can wear it as well). I want to make a collection that provokes change through gender, style, sexuality. I always believe that clothing should not have a gender.
