Strong foundations in textile design from both academic and industrial experience, have enhanced my appreciation of the production, properties and scope of different textile materials. This has underpinned my knowledge as a knitwear designer, informing my work to be more considered, technical and innovative. Choosing knitwear as a specialism was a conscious decision, as I’m inspired by the limitless possibilities by using textures, colours, patterns and structures to experiment with a wide variety of ideas, in order to maximise the potential of the materials. Last year, internships with high-end couture fashion designer, Julien Macdonald, and subsequently at Warehouse, a High Street/Online more affordable fashion Company, gave me an invaluable insight into the wider spectrum of design and production, and sales and marketing.
