My practice has always revolved around being able to tell stories through my work, to attempt to shed a new light on whatever my subjects at the time may be. Lingering between documentary photography and photojournalism, I try to generate a sense of interest within the viewer - an intrigue that would make them want to delve deeper into the stories behind my subjects. The work in this showcase depicts my experience of the BLM movement that garnered so much world-wide attention in the wake of the George Floyd’s death. This period in time brought a lot of introspection not only on a societal level, but also on a personal level, and has proved to be a huge learning point for me. Truly understanding the roots and effects of my white privilege has fuelled me to explore these topics further and bring the conversations to different families and households through my photography.
