As a Fashion and Creative pattern cutting student, my focus for this project was an investigation of the potential of different shape geometrics and cuts to create luxurious fashion pieces. Through research of historical and modern designers I came across the concept of geometrics, I was able to research their methods of using shape, and apply them to my own work. As the project progressed, I made the decision to direct my focus on circular shapes, as they reflect the feminine beauty I wanted my final garment to have. The use of the Lectra software enabled me to create these shapes in a fast and less wasteful manner. The dress was created by draping circular shapes on the stand and building on the silhouette. As the project developed, the new aim of it was to create a couture dress, made with just one shape of different sizes, with quality fabrics and sewing methods that will help the dress last for generations.
