Emily Caldwell
In 2015 I graduate from Bath Spa University in Contemporary arts practice. Since then, I have worked as a Home Design Stylist for John Lewis and as a freelance visual merchandiser for the V&A. During Frida Kahlo ‘making her self up’ exhibition I was commissioned to make two Frida Kahlo skirts which were displayed in the windows of the V&A exhibition shop; I consider this to be one of my greatest achievements. Eagar to advance my textile skills I have been studying MA Textile Design Innovations at Nottingham Trent University. I have always been Inspired by the natural world we live in to create artworks and textile designs that reflect the creatures and colours within it. I recognise the power of colour and how it can provoke changes in our mood, I utilise this to evoke feelings of tranquillity and empathetic love to promote mental wellbeing. I use ethical and eco-friendly textile methods to reduce the impact I have on the planet and wish to continue this as a textile designer.
